Renovations
Q. What do I need to do to apply for approval from council for and exterior renovation or building extension?
A. 1. A sketch of the planned extension or renovation with dimensions.
2. A letter with 3 or more neighbors signatures. (These must be neighbors that will be effected by the change example those that can see it from their yards).
3. A building permit will be needed (in accordance with city Coquitlam bylaws) if approved by council.
4. Present to council at next meeting.
Council allows delegations at the beginning of every meeting at 7PM.
Dangerous Animals
Q. What do I do if I spot a dangerouswild animal in my neighbourhood?
A. Check out the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection Convservation Officer Service website for more information. Call the "Observe Record & Report" 1.800.663.9453 number which is the Ministry Call Centre in VIctoria that tracks frequency and severity of wildlife in residential nighbourhoods. They will dispatch a conservation officer in an emergency.
Garbage Pickup
Q. What is the garbage pickup schedule?
A. Check with the City of Coquitlam garbage pickup schedule.
Salmon Spawning
Q. When can we go and watch the salmon spawning around the River Springs area?
A. Late Fall ranging sometimes from the end of October - December
Sewers
Q4. What does the yellow fish painted by the drain on the road in front of my house mean?
A4. It means anything that gets poured down that drain will empty directly into a neighboring stream or river. Please be careful!
Block Watch
Q5. How do I find out more about Block Watch or crime prevention in our area?
A5. Contact Laurie Burton who is the Block Watch Assistant Coordinator for the RCMP Coquitlam Detachment at (604) 945-1550. More information can be found at the Tri-Cities Online web site under the Crime Watch tab www.tricitiesonline.com/crime.asp.
House for Sale or Rental
Q6. How do I find out more about houses for sale or rent in River Springs?
A6. A real estate agent should be able to help you. If you don't have one, you can check the MLS listings, just look for River Springs. House rental can be found in the Newsletter.
Booking Recreation Centre
Q7. Who do I call to book the Recreation Centre?
A7. To book the River Springs Recreation Center you must call Jan at Strataco (604) 294-4141. She will be able to tell you if it is available and what the costs would be for your event. Please note, you must be a River Springs resident.
Booking the Marquee
Q8. Who do I call to book the Marquee?
A8. To book the River Springs Marquee you must call Nigel at (604) 315-2503. He will be able to tell you if it is available and what the costs would be. Please note, you must be a River Springs resident.
RV Parking
Q9. Who do I call to get an RV Parking space?
A9. To get an RV Parking space you must call Allan Grandy at Strataco (604) 294-4141. If a space in the size you need is not available Allan will put you on a waiting list for the next available spot in the size required. Please note, proof of residency and storage insurance is needed. Also if Allan is not in when you call it is best to leave a message. He will call back within 5 business days.
Complaints, Comments or Concerns
Q10. Who do I contact if I have a complaint, comment or concern?
A10. Well there are several ways for you to do this. Firstly, it is always best to put this in writing. Make sure you state clearly your Name, Address and that you live in River Springs Strata NW939.
1. You can write a letter to council and drop it off at the Recreation Center Mail Box.
2. You can write a letter to council and mail it to Strataco Management Ltd. (See address on Council Page of this website).
3. You can e-mail the council. (See links on Council Page of this website).
4. You can fax a letter to Strataco (604) 294-8956.
5. You can call Allan Grandy (604) 294-4141.
Emergency
Q11. Who do I contact if there is an Emergency?
A11.Firstly, you must determine the type of emergency you have. Remember you own and are responsible for your own home and property, this includes you roof, gutters and trees, electricity, gas and plumbing within your property.
Fire, Police, or Ambulance - call 911.
Plumbing problem in the house or on the property - Call a plumber.
